11/6 Board Meeting

In attendance:

Larry Elbert
Scott Pechota
Mike Cornwell
Deb Clark
Jamie Pechota
Chris Sankot
Steve Batcheller
Charlie Brown
Bob Harvey

Agenda Item #1
Weekday Tournaments

Camden is sponsoring a 10 tournament series culminating on Tuesday, March 23rd with the drawing for a 42" flat screen television. The tournaments are held every other Tuesday with a 6:30 signup & 7:00 start beginning November 17th at the Tilted Kilt . All tournaments are luck of the draw unless otherwise noted. A player receives one entry for the drawing for each tournament played. Any player that plays all ten tournaments will receive ten additional entries for the drawing. Look for the tournament dates and locations on the website soon!

Agenda Item #2
Upcoming Leagues

New leagues will begin after the State Tournament. A Monday '01 league will be offered beginning February 1st and will run for eight weeks plus a position round. Signup for that league will be taken through Monday, January 25th. A Saturday Combo league will be offered beginning February 6th and will run for eight weeks plus a position round. Signup for that league will be taken through Saturday, January 30th.

Agenda Item #3
State Tournament

Signup for the State Tournament is due, with payment, by December 1st. Signups can either be given to me or taken to the shop. All checks should be made payable to Camden Amusements.

Agenda Item #4
Subs

It is decided that we will no longer limit the number of subs per team. We do however strongly suggest having your subs on your roster to avoid any confusion later in the season. Please notify me at least two days prior to league if you plan on having your sub play to ensure the correct average is loaded for that player. After week number 2 of any league, players that have yet to shoot will have a 0.00 average and be required to shoot with the highest average of that particular game unless I am notified in advance.

Also, having a player shoot under someone elses name will result in that team forfeting all games for that evening. You have the ability to add players to your team right at the board so please take advantage of that and please be as specific about the player's name as possible. If you accidentally start league without adding a sub please contact the on-call tech by leaving a message at 365-1558 and they will come and reset the board for you.

Agenda Item #5
Abuse

Abuse of the dart boards and establishments by dart players will not be tolerated. Due to recent happenings there are some changes regarding abuse.
  • Any physical abuse of a dart board that results is disruption of a game (blown circuit, light bulb, reboot) will result in a 30 day suspension for Camden leagues and tournaments
  • Any disruption caused during a league match in which further games cannot be played without the assistance of a tech results in the offender's team forfeiting the remaining games.
  • Any reports of damage to establishments that host leagues and tournaments will be addressed and dealt with accordingly.

The next board meeting will be held Friday, December 18th at 6:00 at Camden. As always, if you're interested in becoming a board member please notify me via email.

3/27 Board Meeting

It was nice to see the entire board present. In attendance:

Larry Elbert
Scott Pechota
Mike Cornwell
Steve Batcheller
Chris Sankot
Deb Clark
Bob Harvey
Mike Scott
Scott Klees
Jamie Pechota
Charlie Brown

The only two agenda items were to schedule upcoming leagues and get some rules in writing. The upcoming leagues are posted on the site and on the forum.

The following are some rules that were discussed.

Subs:
  • A league team cannot add a sub to their team once we reach the half-way point of the league. If there are extenuating circumstances then it will go before the Board.
  • Four person leagues will allow for two subs maximum
  • Two person leagues will allow for one sub maximum

It is highly suggested that you max your sub requirement due to the following:

  • If a team must reschedule their match and provides at least 48 hours notice, the opposing team must accept the rescheduling.
  • A make-up date should be discussed at the time of rescheduling.
  • Make-ups must be made up within two weeks of the scheduled match.
  • If one team has made a reasonable attempt at reschulding to no avail then they can request that the Board discuss options regarding forfeit.
  • All forfeits will include league fees & quarters.

The board is always right! The only scoring malfunction that can be corrected is if it is the winning dart AND it sticks.

  • Ex. Player A has 43 remaining in a game of 501. The first darts hits and sticks in the 15 leaving 28. The second dart thrown hits just outside of the double 14 and scores zero. The third dart thrown hits and sticks in the double 14 but counts as zero. Since the double 14 is the winning dart AND it stuck in the board, player A has won the game for his team. The board will be backed up and the double 14 scored.

The dart boards cost $3000+ per board and are not made to sustain repeated damage. Physical abuse of the dart boards:

Any hitting, kicking or actions that can be considered abuse of the dart boards will be handled as follows:

  • 1st offense - Verbal warning
  • 2nd offense - Suspended from participating in Camden leagues/tournaments for a period of one (1) month.
  • 3rd offense - Appear before the board to determine suitable punishment.

Any disruption of the game as a direct result of physical abuse (blown circuit, light bulb, reboot, etc.) player/team automatically loses that game.

The next board meeting is Friday, May 15th

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Birthday Tournaments

Camden is no longer holding birthday tournaments on the first Saturday of the month. Instead, we're reverting back to the way it was with a couple of minor changes.

If you would like to have a birthday tournament held in your honor you will be required to do three things:

1) Contact me to ensure that the date & time is available (must be a Saturday. Fridays may be an option but I would need to know at least two months in advanced and still can't make any promises)
2) Ask for permission from the bar where you wish to have it
3) Ask the bar to notify Camden to make the arrangements** this step requires you to determine the games you wish to play, the format (mixed, bring your own, etc), added money (Camden will match the bar in most cases), drink specials, door prizes & any additional requests.

Once Camden has been notified & everything is in order I will add the tournament to the website & create the flyer. If, for some reason, you don't see your tournament in a timely manner then assume that something was incomplete and that we are waiting on clarification to continue.

If you have any questions regarding this process please email me at
Camden@crdarts.com.

Back From The Dead

Board Meeting Minutes

Camden held a board meeting on Friday, December 12th. In attendance were Scott Pechota, Mike Scott, Bob Harvey, Charlie Brown, Chris Sankot, Steve Batcheller, Deb Clark and Scott Klees.

Items Discussed:

Advertising
It was discussed that Camden should consider running a weekly ad in the Penny Saver including all tournaments that are scheduled that weekend. Does anyone still check the Penny Saver for tournament information? Good poll question.

Tournaments
Signup & start time have been clarified and confirmed. If a flyer says 2:30 Signup ~ 3:00 Start then the signup will be taken until 3:00 at which time signup is cutoff and the drawing will begin. Tournaments will not be held up waiting for additional players to arrive.

Leagues
Saturday qualifier was to begin the next day and went off without a hitch. The next scheduled league is the Double Inn Happy Hour league which will start Wednesday, January 7th. Signup for that will begin very soon. Other leagues discussed were the doubles power league that was put on hold last spring, another mixed league and a Monday spring league.

A new incentive implemented at the most recent banquet was for feats. Not only did the shooter receive a certificate and pin for that particular feat, they received a $5 bar tab to be used at that location.

It was also discussed that higher league fees = higher league payout, lower league fees = lower league payout. This one will continue to be discussed.

Rules Clarification
League forfeit time is 7:30. If the other team has failed to notify you and has not arrived by that time then a forfeit is in order. This will be at the captain's discretion.

Beginning 1/1/09 the price for 501 will increase to .75. This will effect all versions of 501 (DO, DI/DO, etc) but will not effect Quickie 501 nor will this effect 301 or 701.

Various
Signups for state are due on January 1st. We need to get the word out that time is running short.

We discussed ways to increase the Trip Shot pot, adding another board member and some kind of referral for adding new players. All of this will be discussed in more detail in the future.

The next board meeting is Friday, January 23rd at 6:00.

Various Items

Week in Review

We had two leagues shoot this week and one luck of the draw tournament at the Star Bar. The Boss was able to maintain his Monday night lead heading into position round against a dangerous Charlie Brown - led duo.

We've also got a new first place team on Thursday night as Strange Brew took over the lead from a team that is near and dear to my heart.

The tournament at the Star Bar was fantastic as usual. I saw some great darts up to and including the finals. Congrats to Ellen on your 9-mark against the eventual winners Squiggy & Lueds. Erik was drawn for the trip shot and although he was right on the mark, that triple 20 eluded him. That means on to Coops Friday night with a $605 Trip Shot.

Our thanks to the Star Bar for another wonderful experience - see you in a month!

Saturday Qualifier

If you still need games for state then this is your last chance. The Qualifier will begin Saturday, December 13th @ 1:00 and will run for 8 weeks consisting of 6 '01 games and 6 cricket games. Simple math will tell you that you must play all 8 weeks to acquire the 96 games required to shoot at State.

Signups for this league will be accepted until Saturday, December 6th, NO EXCEPTIONS. I will be emailing everyone that I have an address for but if you know someone who needs the games, let them know.

There are three ways to get signed up:
  • You can send me an email with the information
  • You can complete the online registration (updated version coming soon)
  • You can complete a hardcopy and send to me

State Signup

All entries, with payment, must be turned in to me by Friday, January 2nd. Entries are available at the tournaments or I can email / mail if necessary.

PS - if you haven't already heard, the 2010 state tournament is in Cedar Rapids!

Upcoming Tournaments

Tournaments are already scheduled through December so keep an eye out for your favorite location! If you haven't already noticed, Friday December 12th will be the Double Inn's Grand Re-Opening Mixed Trips Tournament.
  • Friday, November 28th ~ Coopacabana ($605 Trip Shot!)
  • Saturday, November 29th ~ Outskirts
  • Sunday, November 30th ~ Next Door - this is the annual 'Darts for Toys' handicapped singles tournament. It's for a great cause so please consider donating a toy or two and coming out for a relaxing day of darts with your friends.
  • Saturday, December 6th ~ Bills (December birthday tournament)
  • Friday, December 12th - Double Inn
  • Saturday, December 13th ~ The Union Bar in Iowa City - This is a handicapped tournament and requires pre-registration. $500 added so check the 'Tournaments' page on the website to get a link to the registration!
  • Saturday, December 20th ~ Star Bar

Me

If you ever have any dart related questions or concerns I can be reached many different ways. You can always send me an email at Camden@crdarts.com, you can call my cell phone or send me a text at 319.431.3550 or you can call the shop at 319.365.1558. Please be aware that I will not answer my cell phone between the hours of 7:00 - 5:00 but I will check my voice mail periodically.

As always, be good and shoot well!

Camden Dart Board Meeting Minutes

Hello Dart Players:

Camden Amusement staff and the Dart Board held a meeting tonight at 6 pm. Present were the following: Larry Elbert, Jerry Merritt, Chris Sankot, Scott Pechota, Deb Clark and BATCH.

The following items were discussed and decided by your Dart Board:

Camden will continue to try to improve communication with its league and tournament players through its website (which will be completed in the next month), this blog, flyer's (both posted and e-mailed) and ads on dart boards. I would like to hear all input from any player that is willing to offer it. Please contact me through this blog, my e-mail: larry.camden@gmail.com or my cell phone: 319-389-1558.

TOURNAMENTS

Camden will continue to try to develop tournament that all the dart players like. The Board discussed new places to hold tournaments and some of the locations include:

  • C&D's

  • Next Door

  • Melsha's Tap

  • Bars in Iowa City

  • Castle Lanes

  • Bill's in Marion (in the back room)

  • Bars in North Liberty

  • Just Jules

  • Bijou Pub in Monmouth, Il.

Of course there are many good locations to have dart tournaments and Camden will try to have a tournament in all of them. Camden will begin the process by developing a Tournament Itinerary sheet for scheduling with the bars and bar personnel so that items such as Time, Date, Drink Specials and added money are clear when the tournament is scheduled. In addition, Camden will attempt to have posters available as soon as all the details are clear about a tournament.

All Camden Tournaments will be governed by the NDA Dart Rules and a Rule book will be available through the person running the dart tournament.

The Trip Shot is an important part of Camden's promotions. Camden will begin posting the amount on its website so that everyone knows the amount before the tournament. The current Trip Shot is $70.00.

Failure to finish a tournament or leaving a tournament early has become an issue. The rule regarding this is: the person left in the tournament must shoot alone. There will be no re-draws or substitutions. However, if the person remaining is on a team that wins money and has been left by their partner, the prize money shall belong to the person remaining at the tournament and they are not responsible to split that money with the person that left. Camden and the Board will look into anyone that becomes an habitual violator and may create a new rule to deal with such a person in the future (i.e., suspension from tournaments for 3 months).

LEAGUES

With regard to leagues, the 4-person Camden Cricket League begins this Thursday Night. The schedule can be found on Camden's website. The first half will determine the team's placement in divisions in the second half of the season, as it always has. The 2nd half of the Thursday night Cricket League will consist of 4 divisions (Gold, Silver, Bronze and Wood) and each division will have 7 teams. Each team will play each team twice in the 2nd half and there will be no position round. Since each team will have 2 byes, no wins or losses will be awarded for byes.

Position Round for the Fall is Thursday, December 18, 2008. Therefore all make-up matches must be completed by Monday, December 15 or both teams will receive a forfeit, subject to a team making an effort to make up the match and the other team not showing interest. This determination shall be made by Camden's Dart League Coordinator and the Camden Dart Board.

Camden is investigating some new leagues for this fall:

  • Monday's- 2-Person Qualifying League with enough games to get you to the State Dart Tournament.
  • Saturday Afternoon- Mixed 2 Person League.
  • Friday Nights- Traveling In-House League. The location of the league will be the same as the Friday night tournament and all league play will be scheduled before the tournament.

Camden will be developing posters and sign-up for these new leagues and will post them on the website and at all the bars.

As we head into the fall, it is our hope that we can build darts into a fun and recreational activity for everyone. Please be sure to check for upcoming events and to call Larry or Jerry at Camden with any thoughts, concerns or questions.

The date of the next Dart Board meeting will be Friday, October 17 at 6:00pm.

I look forward to seeing you all out there shooting darts. Shoot Well!!

Larry Elbert

Camden Dart Board Meeting

Hello Darters:

Camden is preparing for a Board Meeting with all of the members of the Dart Board. We have many subjects to discuss, but in order to make sure we get them all, I need some input from the dart community. Therefore, I am asking that you help us by suggesting topics to discuss at the Board Meeting on Tuesday, September 9th at 6pm. Please comment on this post or send me an e-mail at larry.camden@gmail.com.

As we enter into the league season, I encourage you all to communicate any problems, questions or concerns to either Jerry Merritt or myself.

Have a great fall league season and I hope to see you all soon out shooting darts.
